GRUB Error 18 on March 24, 2010

Now install Debian Lenny on 250 GB. Due to the application created only one partition for data (dealing with almost all the space), and SWAP. Imagine my surprise when, after a successful installation and reboot after loading the GRUB error appeared:

Error 18

As you read the documentation , it arises when GRUB tries to load the kernel, which is located too far from the beginning of the disk (problems older BIOSes to use large disk).

My solution was to create an additional partition at the beginning of the disk, with a capacity of 512MB (much more than needed) and mount there /boot . The rest of the disk already in its sole discretion. Probably there are several possible solutions, but it is proven, if we use older equipment.
